From the very inception of The Publica, a news platform dedicated to truth, wisdom and understanding, I took on the exciting challenge of shaping its brand identity. I led the branding, look, and feel as well as the webpage design. Starting with the logo: a griffin icon paired with the wordmark “The Publica” in a modified Gloucester MT Extra Condensed, designed in both vertical and horizontal versions with strict clear space rules for consistency. The griffin embodied strength and wisdom, aligning with the brand’s mission.
I also developed a warm color palette, featuring a red (#f20000) to tan (#ecb780) gradient, off-white (#f5f3ef), and tint-black (#0c0000) for contrast, capturing The Publica’s engaging tone. Typography was set with Gloucester MT Extra Condensed for titles, EB Garamond for subtitles, and Alte Haas Grotesk for body text to ensure clarity. Additionally, I handled the art direction throughout the time the news site was live, blending creativity and precision to support The Publica’s commitment to honest storytelling.
